Garvy

bridging capital, talent, and access

Garvy was created as a response to the lack of capital, visibility, and fair access for BIPOC founders. In 2021, less than 2% of $330B in tech VC funding went to Black and Latinx founders. Garvy set out to change that — connecting founders, investors, and talent on one platform designed for equity and growth.

Identifying the Problem

Through conversations with founders, investors, and job seekers, one theme emerged: access. Early-stage founders struggled to be taken seriously, investors couldn’t easily discover overlooked ventures, and talent often couldn’t land interviews. No existing platform truly centered BIPOC-led innovation.

The Core Idea

Garvy is a space where founders could be seen and supported, investors could find vetted opportunities, and talent could connect with startups that reflected their values. Less pitch deck, more ecosystem.

Designing with Intention

The goal wasn’t just to build another job board — it was to design something that felt empowering and credible. That meant a clean, modern experience, tailored onboarding for each user group, and smart matching flows based on real needs. Every interaction aimed to build trust and highlight overlooked voices.

Building and Evolving

The first version was built with user feedback at its core. By connecting under-tapped talent, ideas, and capital, Garvy showed how design can amplify equity in entrepreneurship. Looking ahead, we explored ways to personalize the experience further, including AI-driven recommendations to match founders with the right investors.
